Burn Notice - Season Four
Jeremiah Tash READ TIME: 1 MIN.
USA Network's "blue sky" programming mantra turned "Burn Notice," a show that was originally conceived to take place in Newark, NJ, and flipped it on its ear, setting it in glamorous Miami. The premise -- for neophytes -- is super-spy Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan) gets burned, doesn't know by whom, so he divides his time searching for answers and helping people who can't go to the cops, all with the help of his girlfriend Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar), his buddy Sam (the Bruce Campbell), and his mom (Sharon Gless).
The show's first four seasons pit Michael against myriad forces: Those who want him dead, those who burned him, and both. "Season Four" starts with Michael in a super-Max prison, which he leaves quickly, and is kept on a short leash by his keeper, Vaughn (played by Robert Wisdom of "The Wire"). "Season Four" isn't "Burn Notice" at the top of its game, but it has its moments.
Guest star appearances include Richard Kind, Robert Patrick, Danny Pino, and Michael Rooker. Not too shabby. Then again, who wouldn't want to work in Miami?
DVD extras include The "White Collar" series pilot, a roast of "Burn Notice" by "White Collar" writers, and a few table-scraps like deleted scenes and a gag reel.
