One Million Moms Declare War on (Butt) Crack
Bobby McGuire READ TIME: 2 MIN.
Oooooh Discovery Channel, you'd better blur those behinds!
These crones may not be able to count to seven figures, but there's one thing that this misnomered group of self-appointed morality mavens knows how to do, and that's complain. To kick-off 2015, One Million Moms (OMM) is sending a clear message to executives at the Discovery Channel - "crack is whack."
OMM, the media watchdog arm of the Southern Poverty Law Center designated anti-gay hate group American Family Association, is urging its 70,072 followers to contact the Discovery Channel and sponsors of the cable network's reality show "Naked and Afraid" to demand that the popular reality program be cancelled for what they consider to be "soft porn."
Their latest rant reads:
"The show 'Naked And Afraid' has cast members who are dropped in the jungle with no food, no shelter and no clothes. The two humans selected, one male and one female, must work as a team but they have never met before in their lives. The program shows them stripped naked, blurring out frontal body parts but never blurring out their backsides. Even though the frontal body parts are blurred out, showing so much skin is considered soft porn. In cold temperatures, they must survive by using each other's body heat, pressing their bare bodies together to keep warm. [...]
Discovery Channel has lost its moral compass and should be ashamed to air nudity and call it entertainment. This program needs to be canceled immediately. Previews and promos for this show air all throughout the day and on many other networks."
With this latest campaign, the Discovery Channel joins the proud group of major network NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX and fellow cable networks the Disney Channel, The Cartoon Network and Hub Network as well as national brands Kraft, Norelco, Joe Boxer, JC Penney, Macy's, Kohls, Toys 'R' Us and Walt Disney World who have all been put in "the time out chair" by Mom(s).
When it debuted in July 2013, "Naked and Afraid was the #1 ad-supported cable program among Persons and Men 25-54 delivery and Persons and Men 18-49. The reality docudrama has aired four complete seasons.
The "Naked and Afraid" marathon runs on Wednesday January 14 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time.
