Gay Twitter Roundup: Thirsting Over the Men of 'Olympo,' Zane Phillips' 'Drag Race' Pup Play, and Jonathan Bailey's 'Jurassic Park' Surprise
Andrea Marks Joseph READ TIME: 5 MIN.
It's a strange and magical time to be alive. Every day the political world shocks us in new, chaotic ways, and yet every day queer people astound us in the greatest ways possible. Gay Twitter is one of the places we can always be sure of that truth.
Queer people are talented, brilliant, and creative even in our expressions of thirst, and we'll allow that thirst to take us anywhere: Driving our gif selection while waiting in the Costco parking lot, going to the cinema to see Jonathan Bailey's "sl*tty little glasses," or tuning into the small screen, where Zane Phillips made a groundbreaking furry appearance on "Drag Race." Whether it's news about "Conclave 2: Anna Wintour edition" or stunning pictures of the hottest actor in Netflix's new rugby-centric "Elite," rain or shine, Gay Twitter is always there for us, bringing bizarre news updates and important celebrity thirst traps. Let's celebrate that!
Because of Gay Twitter, our everyday lives are filled with surreal things like Joe Locke straight allegations, Travis Kelce reheating Lea Michele's nachos, Andrew Lloyd Webber very casually giving Rachel Zegler a piece of her "Evita" history, bioengineers using butt plugs to hold their scientific breakthroughs, and media company Condè Nast pretending they're gonna find Anna Wintour's replacement – the cardinals in Vogue's "Conclave" – on LinkedIn.
Zane Phillips furry! We repeat, Zane Phillips furry on "Drag Race"
When out actor Zane Phillips sat down with the president of this "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars" episode, he said "I wanna make history," and that's what this is! Between the way he looks in this golden retriever furry suit and the challenge being for the queens to woo him like he's "The Golden Bitchelor" on a dating show – with everyone dressed as dogs – this is unforgettable television.
Jonathan Bailey's "Jurassic Park" bulge
A radiant glow that fills the world when out actor Jonathan Bailey is doing a press tour. As if by gay magic, everyone on the planet has a heightened awareness of how hot he is, and a sense of urgency about making sure they see his new project. Bailey has charmed his way through media interviews, served face on global red carpets (so impeccably that his "Fellow Travelers" co-star and friend Jelani Alladin said "Bond campaign!") and he even crowned a new elegant way to let a girl know you're gay on "Chicken Shop Date."
The people on X have spoken: Anyone who saw "Jurassic Park Rebirth," whether they're gay or straight, went to the cinema entirely because of Jonathan Bailey. These thirsty movie-goers were rewarded by the sight of his "sl*tty little glasses" as marketed, but they got a little (well, actually not little at all) something extra!
The men of Netflix show "Olympo"
When you come home from seeing Jonathan Bailey's glasses at the cinema, after you scroll through his entire Instagram account, your first stop should be Netflix. If you haven't already checked out the new series from the creators of "Elite," and frankly, even if you have... we recommend tuning in to watch the horny athletes getting into trouble and uncovering a potentially dark side to their glitzy sponsorship deals.
Everyone on the "Olympo" cast is hot, which is to be expected, and many of them are "Elite" alums. Our favorite (and Gay Twitter's favorite, too) is the gay rugby players' storyline, which provides all kinds of gay drama, gay yearning, and gay sex. They've got hot boys filmed from outrageously horny angles, and though at no point do we know the rugby game's score, we love that the boys are getting all kinds of action! Like this scene, for example, which is too steamy to embed so click here to check it out.
"Olympo" star Juan Perales is a Gay Twitter crowd favorite, for obvious reasons. He plays Sebas, whose journey on the show goes from closeted queer guy yearning for his rugby teammate from a distance, to a man dazzled by a new reality where he hooks up with his crush anytime and anywhere he wants (even on the rugby field), which takes him right into cute boyfriend mode. We're huge fans!
Pop culture is culture. Queer history is world history.
One of the best things about Gay Twitter is the feeling you get when coming across a tweet that you know will forever mark a moment in pop culture history, which is really world history if you think about it. Sometimes a tweet hits the timeline and you instantly feel in your heart that it's going to be iconic. Every "Glee" and "Riverdale" plot is queer history; Caitlin Clark saying "somebody called 'Daddy' is texting you" to Sydney Colson on their livestream is history; the model who posed for the sunburn crop-top photoshoot made history that day; this rosary waist chain thirst trap is a game-changer, a holy act in itself; and young Nathan Fielder serving "Apple girl" energy is something we'll be thinking about forever.
Their time in the spotlight may come and go, but true divas will always shine. Ms Winnie the Pooh will be an icon forever, and yeah, she kinda did invent Labubus.
We'll always honor the enduring power of Demi Lovato's "Cool for the Summer," and we hope the bus is always on time for Boston icon Ms Tina Hand. It's what she deserves.
Hot people make the world go 'round
The power of hot people can brighten our days, and soften the blow of a difficult plot twist in our chaotic lives. Getting up in the morning is easier if you're looking forward to seeing someone hot, and texting with your friends is more fun when you are talking about how good someone looks. The same applies to Gay Twitter. Thirst tweets can be something so special. We've sworn our solemn duty to contribute towards these moments in your life.
For your tweeting pleasure, we present to you:
Pedro Pascal's biceps; a moment from behind the scenes of that unforgettable Theo James perfume campaign in glorious 4K clarity; Olivia Rodrigo's hot tattooed lesbian guitarist and the moment in their tour set when the pop star seduces her on stage; and the revelatory knowledge that "The Old Guard" star Charlize Theron is having the best sex of her life with younger people of unspecified genders.
Some tweets can change the world, reshape your thoughts, shift the trajectory of your life...
We're thrilled to share the news of a beautiful moment that "real calendar heads" can hold onto hope for in the near future, and please join us in considering the implications of realizing that "Fake af" backwards is... also "fake af." How can something doubly fake also be so real? While we ponder that, please consider naming your dog "cell phone!"
