Kim Cattrall Confirms She's Not Returning to 'And Just Like That...' After All
READ TIME: 2 MIN.
Kim Cattrall is shutting down rumors that she will star in the upcoming third season of the "Sex and the City" reboot "And Just Like That..."
It was recently reported by Life & Style that Cattrall would be reprising her Samantha Jones role for the Max series after a very brief cameo (a phone conversation with Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw that was filmed completely separately) in the Season 2 finale last year. But the Golden Globe-winning actress took to X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday to squash fans' hopes that she'd be bringing back her iconic role. Responding to a tweet about Cattrall joining the upcoming season, she simply responded: "Aw that's so kind but I'm not."
Cattrall played Samantha all six seasons of "SATC" as wells the franchise's two films. But, as Deadline notes, she has been open about her behind-the-scenes issues with Parker and decided not to return for a reboot of the show, which costars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis joined.
In May 2022, she told Variety that she did not like the way Samantha was portrayed in the script for a proposed third "SATC" film, calling it "heartbreaking" and that she'd not be part of it.
"Everything has to grow, or it dies. I felt that when the series ended, I thought that's smart. We're not repeating ourselves," she told the outlet. "And then the movie to end all the loose ends. And then there's another movie. And then there's another movie?"
Deadline adds that Season 3 of "AJLT" is currently filming in New York and is expected to debut on Max next year.
