Last season saw the "Sex and the City" sequel series land a major get with the return of Samantha. Season 3, expected to debut next year, will see out comedian Rosie O'Donnell join the cast as a new character named Mary.

O'Donnell made the news official with an Instagram post showing a photo of her copy of the Season 3 premiere episode script, titled "Outlook Good," Deadline relayed. The script's cover page credits Michael Patrick King, the show's executive producer, as both writer and director.

"here comes mary," O'Donnell captioned the photo.

A second post revealed the character's look, in which O'Donnell sports longer hair than she has in recent years.

"u like ?" the comedian, 62, queried in the post.

Fans gushed. "Looks great but I say whichever you are most comfortable with is the best choice!" one person raved. "Beautiful either way".

"I do," another replied. "It makes you look younger Imo❤️"

Another wrote: "Natural beauty. You look very relaxed and peaceful."

Some fans remarked that O'Donnell resembled a certain other actor with her longer locks.

"I had to do a second take," one person declared. "I thought it was Tyne Daly! ❤️"

Seconded another: "What in the Tyne Daly?!"

A third joked, "You remind me of Cagney AND Lacey. 😍"

O'Donnell wasn't the only one to tease fans. Star Sarah Jessica Parker also posted a photo of the season's first script, with the script for Episode 2 peeking out from underneath it (no title or credits visible). Variety reported that Parker tagged "Kristin Davis (Charlotte), Cynthia Nixon (Miranda), Mario Cantone (Anthony), Nicole Ari Parker (Lisa), Sarita Choudhury (Seema) and Katerina Tannenbaum (Lisette)."

O'Donnell joins the show in the wake of two cast members departing. As previously reported, nonbinary comedian Sarah Ramirez was let go from the show after their character, Che Diaz - also a nonbinary comedian - broke up with OG star Cynthia Nixon's character, Miranda... but not before Miranda left her longtime husband Steve to be with Che. Viewers disliked the character and were vocal about it.

Karen Pittman, who played college professor Nya Wallace - one of several new characters added to the mix for the sequel series - has also exited the series. "Her departure was due to scheduling as she continues to work on Apple's 'The Morning Show' and Netflix's 'Forever,'" Variety noted.
