Fashion Week by the Numbers
New data reveals that for Fashion Week, New York is hot! And Milan is not.
Switchfly released their 2015 Fashion Week Index, comparing Fashion Week travel bookings for the past four years to New York, London, Paris, and Milan.
The data shows that New York consistently outpaces London, Paris and Milan during both Winter and Spring Fashion Weeks. In February 2015, London saw 70% of the traffic New York did - the most traffic that any of the three European cities has seen in the last four years during Fashion Week - outpacing Paris and Milan by 65% and 52%, respectively
What else does the data say?
This year London received only 15% the amount of visitors that New York received, while Paris received 5% and Milan didn't even make the rankings.
In previous years, London has welcomed between 35% and 60% the amount of visitors New York has welcomed
London's hottest Fashion Week was Winter 2015 when it welcomed 70%
In previous years, Paris has welcomed between 10% and 20% the amount of visitors New York has welcomed
Paris' hottest Fashion Week was Winter 2013 when it welcomed 21%
In previous years, Milan has welcomed between 5% and 15% the amount of visitors New York has welcomed
Milan's hottest Fashion Week was Winter 2015 when it welcomed 18%
Compared to previous years, people visiting the four cities for Fashion Week planned shorter stays: 1-3 days in 2015, compared to 3-5 days in 2012.
