San Diego has always been known for its fresh seafood. By the 1920s, California led the nation in raw tonnage of fishery products and San Diego was a major source of that boon. By 1921, there were roughly 125 fishing vessels operating out of the harbor. Today, the tuna fleet still numbers over
100 vessels and the legacy that fact represents, for those who operate them can be found on the plates in some of San Diego's finest restaurants.
There you have it, a little primer on what the history of seafood and fishing has meant to the city and its inhabitants. Now it's time to enjoy the best new catch of the month!

Fresh Catch Fish Market & Grill, is the latest eatery to be a part of the history that makes up San Diego's relationship to the sea and seafood. It's a laid back at- mosphere, comfy environment and prominently displayed samples of their fresh fare offer insight to the delicious experiences coming within.
The choices are varied and somewhat dependent on what is fresh and available - to their credit, only the best is offered. Selections include anything from fresh Maine lobster and local shrimp, oysters, mussels and Manila clams; fishes that range from snapper to salmon, mahi-mahi to local sea bass and the freshest tuna; Mexican fare from ceviche to traditional fish tacos and delightful burritos stuffed with flavorful shrimp.
The location is newly remodeled with a soft sea-inspired d�cor, seating is plentiful inside and out, and their weekend brunch is to die for!
HERE'S A SAMPLING OF SOME OF OUR FAVORITE DISHES:
Crab Cake Sandwich
A large, fresh jumbo lump crab cake sandwich, with a lovely chipotle-infused tarter sauce. Is it proper to say, "a ton of crabmeat?" It was one of the best crab cake sandwiches we've ever tried! Excellent flavor, with light crispy breading that allows the taste of the tender flesh to come through. The sandwich is large, so definitely come hungry for this "giant" crab cake.
Saut�ed Manila Clams
What more can you ask for than fresh clams, simmered perfectly in butter and white wine? Perfection. The broth was delicious; the flavors were right on and didn't overpower the delicate clams. The sweetest, most tender bites you'll ever eat. They opened up, offering their bounty, swimming in pools of steam and broth. In fact, we needed more of the yummy, crunchy, toasted bread to soak up the delightful remnants. Manilas are truly the snazziest dressers. Chefs love the way Manila clams' striped, colorful shells bring a dish to life.
Blue Point Oysters
For many, enjoying an oyster on a half shell is, well... an acquired taste. But these freshly-shucked, lovely oysters, straight from Delaware's shores, are sure to make anyone a lover of these ocean gems! Presented traditionally, six beautiful half-shell oysters floating on a crystalline bed of ice, with house-made cocktail sauce, lemon and grated horseradish on the side. This particular "Fresh Catch" is the best possible start to your dining experience. Or, for your first "relationship" with an oyster.
Grill Swordfish with Mixed Grilled Vegetables
Swordfish has also been called "the other white meat" because of its mild taste and firm texture. Fresh Catch's is served with a light garlic sauce and is nicely seasoned, with flavors that don't overwhelm. The fish had a fresh, moist and flaky texture and the sides complemented the entr�e nicely. It was a moist, firm and flavorful dish that didn't taste "fishy" at all. A perfect option for the meat lover who desires the nutritional benefits of seafood!
Traditional Fish Tacos
The freshly fried cod was wonderfully crispy on the outside, while the flesh inside remained flaky to the touch and piping hot on the inside. Crispness is a must when a fish is fried, and this one was exactly the right texture. The attending cabbage salad gave the plate a nice extra crunch and the creamy, seasoned sauce added just enough spice and flavor to the holy taco trinity. Some of the best fish tacos we've tasted, in a town that many consider "the fish taco capitol."
Crab Mac and Cheese
It's one of the restaurant's specialty items and we can see why. A rich, luxurious, one-dish meal or perfect as a shared appetizer. Topped with a delicious, garlic herb, breadcrumb crust and so rich, creamy and cheesy, we enjoyed each decadent bite. An enhanced version of this classic American comfort food and a faultless dish for crab lovers everywhere.
