A Man for All (Summer) Seasons: From Swim to Street to Swank
Matthew Wexler READ TIME: 4 MIN.
Whether you're getting skimpy at the beach or hosting a sunset cocktail party, dressing for summer is a strategic affair. We say if you've got it, flaunt it. Those abs won't last forever ... and neither will a well-tailored suit. EDGE takes a look at three vastly different designers and their takes on summer essentials. Which will you be adding to your wardrobe?
Addicted
Addicted is taking risqu to a whole new level this summer with its new campaign featuring the porn boys of BelAmi. Addicted has always been friskier than ES Collection, its older and more highbrow designer cousin. The brand is meant for guys who want a little edge infused in their swimwear at more affordable prices. Where designer brands like ES and Gucci use fine Italian fabrics, Addicted swim exports less expensive cotton and modal fabrics from Spain and Portugal, which helps keep the price in check so you can have multiple beachwear options without breaking the bank.
Moschino
If you're looking to make a spectacularly bold statement and can pull off streetwear without looking like a member of New Kids on the Block, save your paycheck for a piece from Moschino's 2015 spring/summer collection. Designer Jeremy Scott (named creative director in 2013) continues founder Franco Moschino's legacy. In the spirit of its founder, the collection is both whimsical and confrontational, drawing from pop art and relying on saturated colors and an array of hardware, mesh and other materials.
Heading to Milan? Be sure to check out Maison Moschino, an 1840 railway station that has been transformed into a fairy tale-themed boutique hotel.
River Island
One of our favorite UK brands is back with another stylish and affordable collection that gives you the excuse to add one more suit jacket (or tuxedo - hey, why not?) to your wardrobe.
The lean, tailored pieces are available in soothing gray, bright blue, classic navy or jet-setting black - all offering steadfast style for the guy on the go.
