The media is abuzz Monday morning over the altercation between boxer Conor McGregor and rapper Machine Gun Kelly on the red carpet at the VMAs Sunday night. As Page Six exclusively reported, the two broke out in a scuffle and had to be "pulled apart" by security.

A number of videos and pics of the incident have been posted on social media, including one of MacGregor, pretty in pink, with his fist outstretched aimed at Kelly, who towers over him and is a few feet away for any physical contact.

McGregor was attending the awards show to present the Artist of the Year award Sunday night "rocking a bright, pink suit, his walking cane and a massive smile," writes TMZ.

McGregor walked with a cane because he is recovering from a broken leg he received in July when fighting Dustin Poirier in Las Vegas. During the fight's second round, he fell to the floor and couldn't continue the bout. It was his second loss to Poirier. McGregor is recovering from his injury in Los Angeles and is said to be training again, but isn't expected to return to fighting until next year.

During his recovery, he's been seen hanging poolside with Justin Bieber. The pair "have been getting pretty chummy of late..." reports TMZ.

"Bieber was super supportive of McGregor after his January loss to Poirier and also leading up to their latest fight, and Conor actually hopped on his Instagram Live days before UFC 264 to thank him for all the love," the site adds.

"Conor, we're gonna get 'em next time, my boy," Bieber said. "Let's go."

"Bieber's been a huge McGregor fan for years -- even siding with Conor in his feud against Nate Diaz -- and this is more evidence his loyalty is unwavering, despite McGregor's recent struggles," writes TMZ.

But earlier McGregor attempted to bring his boxing skills to the red carpet during when he encountered Machine Gun Kelly and his girlfriend Megan Fox on the red carpet.

"All of a sudden, a large gasp went up from the crowd, and several handlers grabbed Kelly and pulled him away. People started yelling 'Run! Run!' and 'Where's Megan?!' reports the Washington Post. "The couple was surrounded by security as they were swiftly led away from the group. 'Go this way, get her out this way,' one woman commanded, steering the clearly distressed actress into a less-crowded corner of the carpet. Photos and video immediately started circulating on social media."

Fox is said to have been amongst the people who stepped between the fighter and the rapper before being led off.

"McGregor later brushed off the scuffle, telling a reporter he 'doesn't fight little vanilla boy rappers', and only knows who the musician is because he is dating Fox," reports the Daily Mail.

It was earlier reported that McGregor approached Kelly for the pair to take a photo together, but he denied that scenario. A spokesperson for the athlete spoke with the Daily Mail.

"Conor McGregor did not ask anyone for a picture, nor did he instigate this incident. He does not know Machine Gun Kelly, outside of the fact that he attended Conor's fight this past July," they said.

McGregor doubled-down with "Entertainment Tonight", claiming that that "absolutely nothing" happened between them.

"Absolutely nothing. I don't know. He showed up, and I don't know. I don't know the guy," he told "ET" host Rachel Smith.

"Nothing happened with me, I only fight real fighters, people that actually fight, you know what I mean," he continued. "I certainly don't fight little vanilla boy rappers. I don't even know the guy. I don't know anything about him, except that he's with Megan Fox."

"ET" continued: "According to an eyewitness, McGregor and MGK 'exchanged some words' on the red carpet, before the MMA fighter lunged at the musician. MGK and Fox subsequently left the carpet and threatened not to pose for photos, the eyewitness says, but then they returned once McGregor left."

When asked about it, Kelly slapped a reporter's microphone and walked away.
